Highlights - from the Manager
4.28 W 9-3
W 30-1
Kletch #4 The offence and defence played well - as we came from behind in the first game and had it our way in game 2. The purpose for playing was recognized as Jim Miller from Faith Bible Church called both teams together at home plate after the second game for a prayer of thanks.

W 12-10
L 7-10

Lincoln #3 The team rallied in the 6th innning of the first game to take the lead for the first time - lead by the lower part of the batting order; and then held the heavy hitting New Hope team to no runs in the bottom of the 6th and 7th for the win. In the second game, the team came back to tie in the 4th inning - but then lost the lead in the top of the final 5th inning. The defense played well - especially outstanding catches in the outfield by Jason Pokey, Scott Mason and Neil Clerc. It was a good team effort.
6.02 L 7-21
L 9-13
Lindsay 2 The team wore new red (with white trim) shirts last nite - made available with the design and direction of Scott Mason. However, we met our match with the first place team Christian Life Center. The first game got away from us: 21 to 7. The team bounced back to be competitive in the second game as the hitting and defense became more focused. The final score of the loss was 13 to 9. Matt Pokey and Scott Bussen lead the hitting while the pitching staff of Bob Kriefall and Bob Peschel overcame some rocky defense play behind them for encouraging results.
6.09 w 9-4
w 13-8
McCarty #3 The two games against Faith Bible 2 were well played as the Whitefish Bay team won 9-4 and 13-8. All 9 runs were scored in the second inning of the first game. In the second game, the score was tied 8-8 going into the 5th inning when Aaron Bubb and T. J. Patrick started the rally with singles, Scott Mason drove in the 9th run and Dave Armstrong cleared the bases with a triple to make it 12 - 8. Matt Pokey drove in Dave. John Hoylman lead the defense with two outstanding catches of line drives -one of which was turned into a double play. Also, Jason Pokey and Elvis Alvarado had great catches. Bob Kriefall pitched both games well.
6.16 W 16-4
W 15-7
Jackson Solid hitting and defense gave team two convincing wins. Jason struggled getting ball to trees on one bounce several times. Dave A. dropped one in trees and screamed a line shot next time into center field bushes. Clutch pitching from Bob P. kept runners off bases with pop flies and foul outs.
6.23 W 9-5
W 8-3
Lindsay 1 It was a team effort that won both games for the Batters over First Alliance on Monday nite - 9 to 5 and 8 to 3. Before the games , the team was tied for third place with First Alliance. Now we are in second place by ourselves with a record of 9 wins and 3 loses. The team rallied in the bottom of the sixth inning of the first game for 5 runs when the score was tied 4-4. In the second game, 5 runs were scored after 2 outs in the top of the first inning. The outstanding outfield play of Matt Pokey (several exceptional catches), Scott Mason , Scott Bussen (a long run from right field to left field for a key catch) and Neil Clerc assured the two victories. Matt Pokey had an opposite field home run in the second game to take the pressure off. The effectiveness of the pitching staff of Bob Kriefall and Bob Peschel is very clear from the fact that the team leads the Division with the lowest runs against average. We play on our "home field" in Glendale (Kletzch Park 4) next Monday nite.

Lincoln #4 The Batters were able to win both games against New Hope 3 with the first win being a good team effort. Pat Newbury and Aaron Bubb each had 2 hits and 2 runs while Scott Mason made several outstanding catches in the outfield. The second game was close right up to the bottom of the 7th when Rick Wolniakowski walked after 2 outs and Jason Polkey hit a "walk-off" home run for a 5-4 victory. Rick and Jason similarly teamed up after two outs in the 4th inning with a single and home run. Jason carried the offense with 4 (of the 5) RBIs and 2 runs scored.

McCarty #3

The Batters came back from a first game loss to win the second game with solid and aggressive offense at the bat and on the base paths as well as good defense. But for the first inning of the first game when New Hope 2 scored 10 runs, the team had control . Scott Bussen was patient at the plate in the first game with 2 walks ( plus a single) and then homered in the second game. Matt Pokey singled and walked in the first game - followed by 2 homers in the second game. Others leading the multiple on base performances were Dave Armstrong, Aaron Bubb, Neil Clerc, Bob Kriefall, Scott Mason, Jeff McClellan, Dave Soeldner and the returning veteran Scott White who had several clutch hits. The defense was again solid ( take away the first inning of the first game ) lead by Patrick Newbury at third base and the left side of the outfield - Matt Pokey and Scott Mason. Scott played the "Charlie Hustle " role that we look to be contageous with the team. Bob Kriefall and Bob Peschel (Bob-Bob) were again effective on the mound. The regularly scheduled season ends next week - followed by the single elimination play offs.

7.21 W 12-6
L 11-16
McCarty #3 The Batters split again with New Hope 3. This ends the regular season with a tie for second place in our Division (14-6). Key RBI hits were made by Jeff McClellan, Scott White and Bob Peschel. The defense played well until an inning in the second game . Home runs by Matt Pokey, Scott Mason and Neil Clerc were not enough. John Hoylman stepped into the lead off role with good hitting .
PLAY-OFFS
7.28 W 15-4
W 11-6
McCarty #3 The Batters played very well as a team to win both games in the single elimination tournament beating Wauwatosa Bible and Calvary Bible. As a result, the Batters are the only C Division team to make it to the Semi Finals - the other 3 teams in the Semi Finals being from the B Division. Scott Mason lead the offense with 2 Home Runs - but the hitting was spread through out the lineup - Scott Bussen ( 3 for 5, 4 runs and a walk), John Hoylman (5 for 7, 5 runs), Matt Pokey (5 for 6, 4 runs and a walk) , Dave Armstrong (4 for 7 - 1 run), Aaron Bubb (3 for 5 and a walk) , Elvis Alvarado (3 for 6 - 1 run) , Dave Soeldner (4 for 6), Bob Peschel (3 for 5 - 1 run and a walk), Jeff McClellan (3 for 5 - 3 runs and a walk) , TJ Patrick (3 for 6 - 2 runs). The defense was equally as effective lead by the outfield, John Hoylman at 3rd and Dave Soeldner at catcher.

The season came to an end in the Semi Finals of the Playoffs with a loss to Eastbrook : 10-5. Eastbrook went on to win the Championship game by a score of 10-3. It was the Eastbrook defense that was a major factor in limiting the Batters to 7 hits (18 and 22 hits in the first 2 games of the tournament ) as the ball was hit well many times. The game was still in doubt when the Batters loaded the bases in the last inning and Scott Mason hit a ball that would have been a home run in any previous game. However, the Eastbook left fielder's speed allowed him to make a outstanding catch behind their outfielder who was on line with the ball but had been "burned". The Batters offense was lead by Dave Armstrong with a home run and double. Jason Pokey and Scott Bussen went 1 for 2, Matt Pokey was 2 for 3 and Neil Clerc was 1 for 2. Dave Soeldner continued his aggressive play by scoring on a collision at home - resulting in cuts in his mouth (Dave indicates he is healing slowly - but is OK). .Matt Pokey and Scott Mason had outstanding catches in the outfield while Dave Armstrong teamed up with Dave Soeldner to throw out a runner at the plate.. During a team get together after the game, Jason's father-in-law agreed to an "offer sheet" by which he will join the coaching staff and be the first base coach next year. OF NOTE: Patrick Newbury brought his one week old son to his first softball/baseball game. It was a good year for the Batters who thank the congregation for their support.
